Topics in Second Corinthians

Eric Shirley

Throughout history, the Church has encountered problems.  Some problems have been from without, but many were from within.  These problems melt away only in the face of God and His solutions to humanities' frailties and woes.  From a problem as deep and fundamental as Man's need for reconciliation with God to one as mundane as poverty in this life, these problems can all be faced with hope and courage by the believer.  Using the inspired words of Paul in his second epistle to the Corinthians, God directs us to view matters with an eternal perspective.

In this class, we will strive to plumb the depths of God's love for us, the God of all comfort, the God whose promises are all "Yes" in Christ Jesus, and the God who in Christ reconciled the world to Himself, not counting men's sins against them.  But we will also note the high standards to which God calls believers as we seek to live honorably and glorify the One by Whom we have been called – our Lord Who has done so much for us, and before Whom we will always, to some degree, fall short in this life.
